FDA “Undercuts” NDI Guidance Opposition With Compliance Cost Estimate – CRN

OMB approves FDA’s estimate as the official measure for the supplement industry’s anticipated burden in complying with the NDI notification regulation.

The White House mutes the dietary supplement industry’s argument against FDA’s draft guidance on dietary ingredient notifications by endorsing the agency’s cost estimate that underestimates firms’ compliance burden, according to the Council for Responsible Nutrition.

“It undercuts our ability to argue against the draft guidance on NDIs and … to change the agency’s mind because we lose the economic argument,” said CRN President Steve Mister
