Himmel named ChromaDex CEO; Pinney reorganizes senior management; FDA vet Chappell jumps to Greenleaf; more People In Brief.

Jeffrey Himmel joins ChromaDex asCEO and agrees to invest $1 million in the firm that supplies ingredients to the dietary supplement, food and beverage, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Himmel is the former chairman of The Himmel Group, which built branded consumer products including Gold Bond medicated powder, Irvine, Calif.-based ChromaDex said Jan. 23. He also worked as a VP at Jeffrey Martin Inc., an OTC firm founded by his father, and as a financial advisor at investment bank Rothschild Inc. Himmel replaces Frank Jaksch, who becomes chief scientific officer and remains on the firm’s board of directors. William Spengler continues as ChromaDex’s president and chief operating officer.
