Product Registration Regime Chokes China Supplement Industry Growth

The U.S.-China Health Products Association says China is considering reforms to the country’s food product industry regulations. Relaxing the supplement registration requirement would increase demand for Chinese suppliers’ ingredients from firms that would sell more of their finished products in the country.

China’s registration requirement for dietary supplements limits consumers’ health care choices while also restricting the country’s economic growth, says a trade association suggesting China adopt a U.S.-like regulatory framework.
