FDA’s field organization is seeking to fill a new position for a deputy associate commissioner for regulatory affairs strategic management. The new deputy associate commissioner will lead all ORA strategic management duties, as well as oversee about 350 FTEs that are “engaged in activities designed to optimize the use of FDA’s field resources,” according to the job notice. That includes designing “risk-based resource allocation and priority setting systems” and a new multi-year field work-planning process, as well as formulating a budget that combines “the needs of the ORA organization with the needs of the product centers needing ORA expertise,” according to the job notice. The position, which reports to Melinda Plaisier, FDA’s associate commissioner for regulatory affairs, also will oversee all day-to-day management issues and provide overall organization management to improve office performance, according to the notice.
