The UK Department of Health (DoH) and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) have produced a Model Clinical Trial Agreement (CTA) for use by pharmaceutical companies and NHS hospital trusts when developing contracts for clinical trials1. The standard contractual framework covers the legal and financial issues raised by NHS participation in contract research sponsored by pharmaceutical companies and is hoped to facilitate timely completion of appropriate documentation.
