Among the top 15 pharma companies, AbbVie Inc. and Merck & Co. Inc. had the biggest spikes in payments to physicians in 2016, increasing them by 135% and 86%, respectively, while Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. slashed its payments by 80% and Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. by 57%, according to figures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Open Payments database.
