Survey Shows Drug Makers Don't Expect To Begin Serializing All Packages By November Deadline

Concerns that the US pharmaceutical industry will not have the necessary serialization systems in place to fully comply with DSCSA product package serialization requirement appear to be bearing fruit, according to a recent survey.

The US pharmaceutical industry is lagging in implementing the second piece of the FDA’s Drug Supply Chain Security Act, the requirement to serialize product packages, by a Nov. 27 compliance deadline, a recent survey shows.

Ninety-two percent of survey respondents said they will have begun serializing packages by then, including 71% that already had begun distributing serialized product when they were surveyed.
