Opioid Prescribing Guidelines Will Be More Template Than Commandment

The US FDA may now have a legislative mandate to wade into regulation of medical practice with its development of opioid prescribing guidelines, but Commissioner Scott Gottlieb only seems interested in the agency getting a toe wet.

Gottlieb told the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicines (NASEM) committee researching evidence-based opioid prescribing guidelines that he does not envision FDA

Providers likely will be left to incorporate the evidence into practice as they see fit
