Nancy Goodman began a campaign to expand research on cancer treatments for children after her son died of a rare form of pediatric brain cancer at the age of 10. In the last decade, she has helped write three bills, two of which were enacted into law as part of prescription drug user fee act (PDUFA) reauthorization legislation. The most recent measure, Give Kids a Chance Act, drafted as a rider to PDUFA VII, passed the House but was excluded from the Senate reauthorization bill and did not make it into the final government funding package.
