The Japanese government has officially approved a new five-year plan for counter-antimicrobial resistance (AMR) activities that will run from 2023 to 2027 and brings with it several new key performance indicators (KPIs) for the use of antibiotics.
Japan has already launched an incentive project for the R&D and marketing of safe and effective antibiotics as part of its AMR measures, and ahead of the its hosting of the G7 Summit in Hiroshima and preceding G7 Health Ministers’ Meeting in Nagasaki in May has been promoting general initiatives to tackle infectious diseases
