A multi-stakeholder workshop looked at the data needed to support updates to vaccine composition and the time required by manufacturers to update their vaccines, change their manufacturing processes and prepare approval applications.

Representatives of regulatory authorities, the pharmaceutical industry and the World Health Organization have agreed to put in place a structured process to align global recommendations on the composition of updated COVID-19 vaccines and to optimize their regulatory approval.
