POLYVINYL ACETATE IS SAFE AS USED, CIR DECLARES

POLYVINYL ACETATE IS SAFE AS USED, CIR DECLARES in its revised final report issued at the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) expert panel's Sept. 12-13 meeting in Washington, D.C. A prior final report on the ingredient published in 1992 stated that the panel had insufficient data to make a determination of the safety of polyvinyl acetate. Since 1992, the panel received requested data, such as the ingredient's composition and information on human skin sensitization and irritation, enabling it to deem the ingredient safe as used in cosmetic products.
