TxSystems: Phoenix-based Medicis' "cosmetic dermatology" business unit launching Afirm retinol treatment for sale through dermatologists' offices in April ("The Rose Sheet" March 17, p. 4). Afirm is "highly effective" and "restores and enhances the natural processes which reduce superficial lines and make skin smooth...more evenly pigmented," TxSystems said. Afirm incorporates Advanced Polymer Systems' Microsponge technology, which "entraps the retinol molecule...to protect the potency of the otherwise delicate vitamin A," the company noted. Afirm 1X for sensitive skin contains .15% retinol; "regular strength" Afirm 2X contains .3% retinol; and Afirm 3X for "severely photodamaged skin" contains .6% retinol.
