COSMETICS LABELING HARMONIZATION WITHIN EU REMAINS "KEY" COLIPA OBJECTIVE due to the issue's "growth in importance in the last year or two," newly elected European Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (COLIPA) Secretary General Alan McGee said at the trade group's annual Information Day in Brussels Feb. 4. COLIPA will continue to work with European Union member states to "try and facilitate the marketing" of cosmetics products with labeling using the International Cosmetic Ingredient Nomenclature (INCI), he said. These continuing efforts are aimed at providing a "global marketing...approach" for union members as well as the 10 new countries expected to join the EU between 2001 and 2003, McGee explained. The harmonization issue will be the main topic of discussion at a COLIPA regulatory conference in April in Florence, Italy.
