California animal testing

Bill prohibiting use of animal tests when a validated alternative exists passes Senate 22-11 with seven abstentions May 25. SB 2082, introduced by Sen. Jack O'Connell (D-Santa Barbara) Feb. 25, amended a stricter version. CTFA, which had lobbied against the bill, withdrew its opposition following the May 3 changes. Modifications included carving out a much-opposed "bounty hunter" clause (1"The Rose Sheet" May 8, p. 10)
