Fragrance allergens
EU Cosmetic Directive amendment restricting use of 24 fragrance ingredients postponed due to technical mistakes in the text. The European Commission's Committee on Adaptation to Technical Progress was scheduled to vote on the proposal Oct. 5, but will instead hold an open meeting with industry to discuss a new draft, expected to be released the week of Sept. 25. The original amendment would have required a "can cause allergic reaction" label warnings on products containing the 24 ingredients said to be fragrance allergens (1"The Rose Sheet" Nov. 29, 1999, p. 4).
