Formaldehyde released from heated hair-smoothing products continues to be a priority for the U.S. Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which is cracking down on salons as well as hair-straightening brands and distributors that fail to protect professional stylists from exposure.

Maintaining its focus on formaldehyde exposure resulting from use of heated hair-smoothing products, OSHA continues to take action against salons that do not protect workers and customers from formaldehyde levels above OSHA limits.
