Canada To Push For Reduced Triclosan Use In Cosmetics

Triclosan in toothpastes, soaps and other personal-care items that are rinsed off and washed down the drain can negatively impact marine life, Canadian regulators assert in a draft assessment. Environment Canada and Health Canada will consult with industry about the possibility of voluntarily reducing use of the antimicrobial, while the American Cleaning Institute intends to submit data to alleviate eco-concerns.
