CSC: Feinstein Bill Needs Stronger Safety Standard, Fragrance Disclosure

Campaign for Safe Cosmetics co-founder Janet Nudelman characterizes the proposed Personal Care Products Safety Act as “a really good bill with a few fatal flaws.” The legislation’s ingredient safety standards are “weak,” there remains a need for mandatory fragrance disclosure and in light of the bill’s perceived shortcomings, CSC is leery of its federal-preemption component, she told “The Rose Sheet.”

The Personal Care Products Safety Act would make sweeping changes to the way cosmetics are regulated in the U.S., but it does not go far enough, according to the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.

The NGO says it has concerns about the bill and intends to work toward legislation “that will be truly health-protective”...
