ID’ing Endocrine Disruptors Without Animal Tests ‘Extremely Difficult’ – SCCS

The Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety has issued a memorandum providing its views on endocrine disruptors as the European Commission works to develop criteria for their identification. SCCS notes that the cosmetics industry will face challenges in evaluating potential EDs without animal testing.

The cosmetic animal-testing ban in the EU may complicate the European Commission’s task of defining criteria for identifying endocrine disruptors across regulatory platforms, the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety suggests in a memorandum posted online Jan. 12.
