European Cosmetics Association Advises Microbead Phase-Out By 2020

Trade group says it will work to promote scientific decision making from EU authorities and develop global industry alignment while recommending that its members phase out use of synthetic, non-biodegradable plastic microbeads for exfoliating and cleansing purposes in rinse-off cosmetics by 2020.

Trade group Cosmetics Europe recommends that its members discontinue use of synthetic, non-biodegradable plastic microbeads in rinse-off personal-care products by 2020, citing "increasing public debate and concern."
