New York City Eyes Broad Microbead Ban With Narrow Phase-Out Window

The New York City Council's Int. 928 is similar in spirit to legislation passed or under consideration in other states, but worded in a way that could ban in the five boroughs plastic microbead-containing cosmetics that have not been targeted elsewhere – as well as "hundreds" of personal-care and OTC drug products that do not even contain microbeads, according to the Consumer Healthcare Products Association – all by the start of 2016.
