SEURAT-1 Promising, But Still No Non-Animal Systemic-Toxicity Solution

The close of the EU's five-year SEURAT-1 program marks "a milestone in the journey to animal-free safety assessment," but "years" of additional work are needed before fully non-animal testing to assess repeated dose systemic toxicity is possible, Cosmetics Europe suggests. Meanwhile, the group says innovation in the sector has taken a hit due to the EU's full ban on cosmetic animal testing, implemented in March 2013.
