Editorial: 'Stink!' Documentary On Fragrance Ills Presents Nothing New, Effectively

Set to launch to video-on-demand platforms Feb. 16, critically hailed documentary "Stink!" casts the fragrance industry as its central villain, pressing for full transparency in fragrance ingredient use, among other reforms to US chemicals regulation. Director/producer Jon Whelan's argument has holes and underrepresents industry, but his message is reaching a wide audience of receptive ears.

Promoted as "the movie the chemical industry doesn't want you to see," the Michael Moore-style documentary "Stink!" has nabbed favorable reviews and film-festival honors since debuting in late 2015 without bringing anything radically new to debate around US chemical regulations and fragrance ingredient disclosure.
