Wash. State Unconvinced Parabens Should Go From Kids’ Chemical List

Stakeholders have until January 13 to issue their final comments on the Washington state Department of Ecology’s update to the Children’s Safe Products Act. The Personal Care Products Council requested the removal of parabens from the list of chemicals of high concern to children, but the group has not provided “sufficient evidence” to support such action, according to a DOE rep.

The Personal Care Products Council’s request to delist four parabens from Washington state’s list of chemicals of high concern to children falls short in the eyes of the Department of Ecology, dealing a blow to efforts to destigmatize the preservatives’ use in personal-care products.
