EU Authorities Raising Nanomaterial Awareness With Cosmetics Inventory, 'Observatory'

If any of the 43 nanomaterials in the European Commission's long-awaited cosmetics inventory are surprises, compared with previous nano-notifications (or lack thereof), the ingredients could be subject to scrutiny and potential restrictions down the line. Separately, ECHA announced the launch of the EU Observatory for Nanomaterials to educate consumers, workers and industry pros on the nano landscape.

After a lengthy delay, the European Commission has issued its initial inventory of nanomaterials with known cosmetic uses in the EU market, as required by the Cosmetics Regulation.
