CIR Experts Find Brown Algae Data Lacking, Finalize ‘Safe’ Position On Ginkgo Biloba Ingredients

The expert panel concluded its safety assessment of Ginkgo biloba ingredients, plus four other ingredients/groups, and advanced six tentative safety reports at its Sept. 24-25 meeting in Washington. Currently available data are insufficient to determine the safety of 82 brown algae ingredients, the panel says.

Botanical ingredient developments were among highlights of the Sept. 24-25 meeting of the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel, which is focused increasingly on the safety of plant-derived substances due to rampant “natural” cosmetic demand.
