Washington State’s Safer Products Program May Prioritize Phthalates In All Cosmetics, Not Just Fragrance

In January, the Evergreen State was considering targeting phthalates in perfumes, colognes and body mists and sprays for alternatives analyses and potential regulatory action under its California-esque Safer Products program. More than 1,300 stakeholder comments later, the Department of Ecology is proposing that general use of phthalates in cosmetic products warrants a look.
