Hopes are fading for a regulated CBD dietary supplements market in the EU with the European Commission favoring a narcotic classification for the cannabinoid.

Despite branding CBD a novel food at the start of 2019, the Commission is considering making a U-turn on its position as it is unsure whether the Cannabis sativa compound falls under the definition of food set out by existing EU regulations
