Salon Beauty Products Show Little Innovation Away From Harmful Ingredients, NGOs Say

Women’s Voices for the Earth and partner NGOs say innovation toward “inherently safer” products is direly needed in professional hair and nail salon products, which continue to make common use of chemicals linked to or suspected of causing adverse health effects in salon workers.

Legislation in California in recent years has provided new levels of visibility into salon beauty product formulations, which, according to NGOs, shows that little progress has been made in decades to innovate away from hazardous chemicals.
