US FDA Kicked Around In House Hearing Along With Its Progress On Regulating Hemp Industry, Market

Republicans don’t waver from stance that FDA not only doesn’t need additional tools but also should’ve already established regulation of hemp products. Democrats recommend giving FDA a chance.

A House hearing on the Food and Drug Administration’s oversight of the use of hemp ingredients in food and dietary supplements gave Republican members a stage to broadly criticize the FDA while their Democrat counterparts offered support for the agency’s request for additional authorities.

Meanwhile, members from both parties and both chambers announced a request for information from subject matter experts and stakeholders regarding the FDA’s regulation of hemp.
