Pfizer announced Oct. 11 the results of an awareness survey that targeted 1,000 cancer patients and 1,000 family members living together with the patients. The results showed that the presence or absence of explanations and consultations regarding treatment affected the satisfaction of patients and family members. More than 73% of respondents said that “the doctor presented them with treatment options, and a decision was made together”, while 18.6% said that “the doctor decided treatment without consulting the people involved.” More than 26% of the latter group stated that their satisfaction level was below 50/100, suggesting that their lack of involvement in the decision could affect their satisfaction regarding treatment.
