Wockhardt Issues U.S. Recall Of Toprol ER Generic Hypertension Drug

Wockhardt issued a U.S. recall of 109,744 bottles of its generic version of AstraZeneca's Toprol (metropolol) drug for treating high blood pressure, a drug made at a plant not under U.S. FDA import alerts.

Wockhardt issued a U.S. recall of 109,744 bottles of its generic version of AstraZeneca's Toprol (metropolol) drug for treating high blood pressure, a drug made at a plant not under U.S. FDA import alerts. The agency said a test sample of the extended-release drug failed a dissolution test. The drug was produced at Wockhardt's plant in Mumbai. The company’s plants in Waluj and Chikhalthana are barred from exporting drugs to the U.S. because of manufacturing violations. (Click here for more
