Thailand and other member countries of the ASEAN economic community are being inspected by Merck KGaA as possible locations for production plants that it plans to build to take advantage of cheaper labor costs.

Thailand and other member countries of the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) economic community are being inspected by Merck KGAA as possible locations for production plants that it plans to build to take advantage of cheaper labor costs. The Germany-based drug maker seeks to have final plant sites selected by the end of 2015. In Thailand, Merck now relies on a local factory to produce one of its vitamins, and the head of Merck Thailand said the unit expects to grow by up to 5% this year. (Click here for more
