Subjectivity matters in pharmaceutical clinical trials. Determining how a new drug makes a patient feel can be as important as measuring its physical effects, particularly for certain types of medications. Physical outcomes can be measured objectively by medical professionals, but a trial participant's own experience of the drug must be self-reported.
