Recent Financings of Private Companies (07/2006)

Each month, Start-Up presents a comprehensive review of young, private life science companies that have recieved venture funding during the month, including companies in the pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostic and research instrumentation & reagent sectors.

Jun.—Adnexus Therapeutics (formerly Compound Therapeutics; protein drugs for a wide variety of indications) raised $27mm with its Series B private placement that was led by Venrock Associates. Existing backers Atlas Venture, Flagship Ventures, and Polaris Venture Partners also participated.

Jun.—Aegerion Pharmaceuticals (therapeutics for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases) raised $22.5mm through an oversubscribed Series A round led by Advent International....
