Start-Up's monthly comprehensive review of emerging life science companies that have received venture funding during the month, including companies in the pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostic and research instrumentation and reagent sectors.

Linkage Biosciences Inc. (developing tissue-typing molecular diagnostics) brought in $2.1mm via its Series B round led by Fisher Capital and Greenhouse Capital Partners. All other major returning investors, including Big Sky Partners, also participated. Funding will support scale-up manufacturing activities and regulatory approvals in the US and Europe for its LinkSeq tests. The company's Series A generated $2mm back in early 2009. (Sep.)
