Two clinical trials of Gilead Sciences Inc.’s experimental antiviral for COVID-19 taking place in China were halted in recent days due to the waning of the epidemic in the country.

One of the trials of remdesivir, a Phase III randomized, double-blind study in hospitalized adults with mild and moderate COIVD-19, was suspended because the epidemic “has been controlled well at present” and “no eligible patients can be recruited,” according to a 15 April update to ClinicalTrials.gov
