World leaders have pledged €7.4 billion ($8.07 bn) in a digital fundraising event to raise money for a global fund to develop coronavirus vaccines and therapies.

The video conference summit held on 4 May was hosted by the European Union, which kicked off the event with a pledge of €1 billion. Japan gave $800m while France and Germany both offered more than €500m, while Italy and Spain each promised over €100m
