Novavax-Serum Institute Seal Win-Win Deal For COVID-19 Vaccine

50:50 Revenue Split In Licensed Regions

Novavax has granted Serum Institute rights to develop, manufacture and commercialize its COVID-19 vaccine candidate in selected regions, in another endorsement of the Indian group's capabilities. The agreement, which expands on an earlier association, gives Serum exclusive marketing rights in India until the deal ends and non-exclusive rights for developing countries to the end of the pandemic, with the US firm getting half of net revenue.

In a deal waiting to happen, Novavax, Inc. has firmed up an agreement with Serum Institute of India Pvt. Ltd. to develop, manufacture and commercialize its recombinant COVID-19 vaccine candidate NVX-CoV2373 in some developing countries, including India. Novavax had earlier licensed its adjuvant to Serum Institute and acquired a group company, Praha Vaccines.

This places Serum Institute in an enviable position as it already has a manufacturing agreement with AstraZeneca PLC/Oxford University for AZD1222,
