India and South Africa’s recent submission seeking a waiver from the “implementation, application and enforcement” of certain provisions of the Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS Agreement) for COVID-19-related therapeutics and vaccines has brought the debate over intellectual property rights (IPR) center stage again, with some experts warning that the risk for pharma lies if potential measures "creep" into other areas.
