Genentech Enlists Trial Sites In Oncology Initiative

At The Atlantic’s Health Equity Summit, panel discussions highlighted efforts to improve diversity in clinical trials of diseases like lupus, which disproportionately affects women of color.

The COVID-19 pandemic drew renewed attention to the issue of clinical trial diversity, but discussion of the issue at The Atlantic’s Health Equity Summit on 22 June highlighted how the focus has begun to shift from the pandemic to other disease areas, including oncology and rheumatology.

Following the summit’s conclusion, Roche Holding AG’s Genentech division announced on 23 June that it was launching the Advancing Inclusive Research Site Alliance – part of its overall Advancing Inclusive Research initiative – to enlist clinical trial sites that will work with the company to help ensure diverse enrollment in clinical trials of its cancer drugs
