GSK Unveils Plans For Major Europe Biotech Cluster

Could Result in Up To 5,000 Jobs

The under-pressure drugs giant has something to cheer with plans for a new campus that could attract several world-class research organizations to its doorstep and bring a multi-million pound windfall from the sale of land.

GlaxoSmithKline plc is seeking a partner to transform a third of its R&D site in Stevenage, UK, in a move that would create one of Europe’s largest life science campuses and raise £400m for the drugs major. 

As part of proposals set out on 16 July, GSK is looking to sell 33 acres of land, with an aim to "unlock up to £400m in new investment from a private sector developer to build the new campus and potentially create up to 5,000 highly skilled jobs, over the next five to ten years
