IPO Edition: Caribou, AbSci and HCW launched initial public offerings, but three firms that were expected to go public during the week of 19-23 July did not, raising the question of whether investors are beginning to pull back from biopharma offerings.

It remains to be seen whether the performance of biopharmaceutical company initial public offerings in the US this year will cause investors to rethink their strategies but returns from IPOs so far this month could test IPO backers’ patience.

The eight companies that have gone public so far in July have delivered an average loss of -7% (see table below)
