Biogen, Inc. filled the longest-term opening on its executive team, announcing on 6 September that the company has hired Jane Grogan as executive vice president and head of research, a position that opened up when long-time Biogen executive Alfred Sandrock retired from his role as head of R&D in 2021. But while Sandrock kept the firm’s research and development largely focused on neurology, Grogran’s recruitment may be the biggest signal yet that Biogen is considering more of a pivot toward immunology.
Grogan will fill a position held on an interim basis for more than a year by current EVP and head of development Priya Singhal, the head of global safety and regulatory sciences who was tapped to fill Sandrock’s shoes upon his retirement in November 2021.
