Moves are at last underway for a more specific focus on orphan and pediatric devices. They are a start; but experts are calling for more to support this sector.

The European Commission’s plan to create a specific panel for orphan and pediatric devices – something that the clinical community have been requesting for some years now – have been welcomed by Tom Melvin, chair of the regulatory affairs committee of Biomedical Alliance and associate professor in medical device regulatory science at the University of Galway, Ireland.
