France Threatens To Block Servier Sale Of Biogaran To Outside Owner

Prime Minister Says Country Could Activate Process For Controlling Foreign Investments

“We have been very clear with Servier that we do not want it to sell Biogaran,” France’s prime minister has indicated, suggesting that a foreign purchaser would face “drastic conditions” attached to any deal.

Amid reported rumors that Servier is considering selling its French generics subsidiary Biogaran, France’s prime minister has suggested that any move to purchase the firm by a buyer outside of France could be blocked by deploying the country’s process for controlling foreign investments.
