The Office of the US Trade Representative has dropped tariffs for certain imported medical devices, including personal protective equipment (PPE), in the ongoing trade war with China. The announcement comes as the country grapples with the global coronavirus crisis.
On 6 March, the Trump administration announced it is dropping tariffs on a slew of products including sanitation wipes, laboratory wares, medical gloves and drapes at least until September. The move follows last month's announcement that the administration would cut some tariffs after China agreed to do the same, but those cuts didn't focus on medtech products
