The American Medical Association has “expedited approval” of a Current Procedural Terminology code for reporting laboratory testing related to the novel coronavirus.

The American Medical Association (AMA) has “expedited approval” of a Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code for reporting COVID-19 lab testing.

Effective immediately, the new Category I CPT code is 87635.
