Evolving health care demands, digital innovation and the need to work within tighter budgets have prompted the UK’s NICE to reset its strategy for the coming five years.

The UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is marking its 22 years of existence with a new plan of action to enable it to assess and provide access to a widening range of health technologies in a faster, more agile manner.

The health technology assessment (HTA) body’s five-year strategy for 2021-26 was launched by the minister for innovation at the Department of Health and Social Care, Lord Bethell. He said the review is intended to ensure NICE adapts to new opportunities
